چکیده

We analyze doping dependent spectral intensities and Fermi surface maps obtained recently in Nd2−xCexCuO4±δ (NCCO) via high resolution ARPES measurements, and show that the behavior of this electron-doped compound can be understood as the closing of a Mott (pseudo) gap, leading to a quantum critical point just above optimal doping. The doping dependence of the effective Hubbard U adduced by comparing theoretical and experimental spectra is in resonable accord with various estimates and a simple screening

4 A ug 2 00 4 Experimental Investigation of the Competing Orders and Quantum Criticality in Hole - and Electron - Doped Cuprate Superconductors

We investigate the issues of competing orders and quantum criticality in cuprate super-conductors via experimental studies of the high-field thermodynamic phase diagrams and the quasiparticle tunneling spectroscopy. Our results suggest substantial field-induced quantum fluctuations in all cuprates investigated, and their correlation with quasiparticle spectra implies that both electron-(n-type)...

Spin dynamics of the electron-doped high-T(c) superconducting cuprates.

We show that a basic difference between the electron- and hole-doped cuprates is their proximity to two different quantum critical points in a 2D free fermion system on a square lattice and that the spin dynamics observed recently for the first time in the electron-doped Nd2-xCexCuO4, very different from that in the hole-doped cuprates, can be understood as a consequence of this effect.

Phase Diagrams of Cuprate Superconductors – an Investigation of Competing Orders and Quantum Criticality

We present scanning tunneling spectroscopic and high-field thermodynamic studies of holeand electron-doped (pand n-type) cuprate superconductors. Our experimental results are consistent with the notion that the ground state of cuprates is in proximity to a quantum critical point (QCP) that separates a pure superconducting (SC) phase from a phase comprised of coexisting SC and a competing order,...

Destruction of Neel Order in the Cuprates by Electron-Doping

Motivated by the evidence1,2,3,4,5,6 in Pr2−xCexCuO4−y and Nd2−xCexCuO4−y of a magnetic quantum critical point at which Néel order is destroyed, we study the evolution with doping of the T = 0 quantum phases of the electron doped cuprates. At low doping, there is a metallic Néel state with small electron Fermi pockets, and this yields a fully gapped dx2−y2 superconductor with co-existing Néel o...

Competition Between Spin Density Wave Order and Superconductivity in the Underdoped Cuprates

We describe the interplay between d-wave superconductivity and spin density wave (SDW) order in a theory of the hole-doped cuprates at hole densities below optimal doping. The theory assumes local SDW order, and associated electron and hole pocket Fermi surfaces of charge carriers in the normal state. We describe quantum and thermal fluctuations in the orientation of the local SDW order, which ...
